Known as Butterfly Flower, Sesbania glandifora or Bunga Turi , is typical tropical flora and easily can be found in Indonesia and widely in tropical countries. Commonly in white and red, both are edible but the white is more common as part of Pecel, local Indonesian vegetable salad served with spicy peanut sauce.

The red Kembang Turi is definitely beautiful, but mostly people in Java prefer the white one for considering the white is better in taste. As I recall this is also the very same reason why we/they choose the local fairy tele role of Bawang Putih (white garlic) better than Bawang Merah (red onoin). And Kleting Kuning (Yellow Kleting) is considered more than her other more colorful sisters....

Is white (or yellow) considered good or weak? For it is so common to worship the white thing that represent the goodness and kindness, but in the same time we need to agree that those roles are also suffering from injustice. Bawang Putih as Indonesian version of Cinderella have to fight the satanic stepmom and stepsisters, and Kleting Kuning need to fight severely against the pervert Yuyu Kangkang (the Giant Crab).
